Itinerary: Boise Hub & Spoke Ideas

Southwestern Idaho Itinerary including traveling to McCall, Nampa, and Sun Valley, Idaho.

Day 1: Boise, Idaho

Arrive into Boise. Afternoon and evening activities can include a one hour tour of Boise aboard the Boise Tour Trolley, a mellow float on the Boise River or an evening at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. There are many hotels, camping and dining options for everyone’s tastes and budgets. Overnight in Boise.

Day 2: NORTH- McCall, ID

Head North to McCall and enjoy a morning of mountain biking or hiking at Brundage Mountain Resort. Brundage Mountain summit offers spectacular views of the Payette Lakes, Long Valley, Meadows Valley, and the Seven Devils. Plan on whitewater rafting one of the sections of the Payette River in the afternoon and early evening. Several companies offer a variety of levels from flat water to big white water. It all depends on your preference. Overnight in Boise.

Day 3: WEST- Nampa, Idaho

Plan on visiting the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, where you will see planes and memorabilia from World War II. Wander through the petroglyphs at Celebration Park and enjoy lunch at Ste. Chapelle Winery. Afternoon activities might include traveling back to Boise and visiting the Basque Museum, the World Center for Birds of Prey, which has exciting exhibits on endangered birds of prey, ecology and conservation, the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame or the Old Idaho Penitentiary. Overnight in Boise.

Driving Time: Boise to Nampa – approx. 30 minutes

Day 4: EAST- Sun Valley, Idaho

On your way to Sun Valley, stop at the Bruneau Dunes and climb the largest single structured sand dune in North America. Continue on to Glenn’s Ferry for lunch at Crossings Winery and a visit of the Oregon Trail at Three Island Crossing State Park. Continue on to Sun Valley in the afternoon. Late afternoon activities can include fly fishing, strolling around town or just relaxing. Overnight in Sun Valley.

Day 5: Boise, Idaho

Return to Boise via Stanley and the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Options along the way include hiking in the Sawtooth Mountains, soaking in the hot springs at The Springs and learning about the mining history of Idaho City.
