Boise’s performing arts community features a range of creative forms that both inspire and entertain. There are established, traditional players like Boise Philharmonic, Opera Idaho and Ballet Idaho as well as contemporary and avant-garde companies like Boise Contemporary Theater, LED and more.

Idaho Shakespeare Festival

See live, world-class performances in a cozy outdoor amphitheater where deer walk by and birds fly overhead. This beloved Boise summer tradition happens from late May to early October. Picnicking is highly encouraged, or you can visit the on-site Shakespeare Cafe that offers food and—yes!—wine. Experience the arts in a picture-perfect natural setting.

Velma V. Morrison Center

Located on the Boise State campus, the 10-story Morrison Center hosts hundreds of live entertainment and arts education events annually. It’s right on the banks of the Boise River and offers panoramic views of the city, parks and foothills. The Morrison Center has been one of the city’s premier entertainment venues since it opened in 1984.

Stage at Boise Contemporary Theatre

Boise Contemporary Theater

Boise Contemporary Theater is an award-winning, professional theater company in Boise, Idaho. Since 1997, BCT has been bringing five productions a year to their main stage, attracting audiences of over 12,000 people. Along with their main stage, they also have a black box space that seats just over 200 people. This option provides an intimate art experience.
