Boise’s performing arts community features a range of creative forms that both inspire and entertain. There are established, traditional players like Boise Philharmonic, Opera Idaho and Ballet Idaho as well as contemporary and avant-garde companies like Boise Contemporary Theater, LED and more.
Idaho Shakespeare Festival
See live, world-class performances in a cozy outdoor amphitheater where deer walk by and birds fly overhead. This beloved Boise summer tradition happens from late May to early October. Picnicking is highly encouraged, or you can visit the on-site Shakespeare Cafe that offers food and—yes!—wine. Experience the arts in a picture-perfect natural setting.
Velma V. Morrison Center
Located on the Boise State campus, the 10-story Morrison Center hosts hundreds of live entertainment and arts education events annually. It’s right on the banks of the Boise River and offers panoramic views of the city, parks and foothills. The Morrison Center has been one of the city’s premier entertainment venues since it opened in 1984.
Ballet Idaho
Since 1972, Ballet Idaho has been performing stunning shows in Boise. Ballet Idaho offers over 20 shows during their season from November to May. As the only professional ballet company in Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming, Ballet Idaho gives visitors a unique opportunity to experience dance in the Mountain West.
Opera Idaho
In 2023, Opera Idaho is celebrating its 50th anniversary. For nearly half a century, Opera Idaho has been funding and producing professional opera in Boise and throughout Idaho. If wonderful costumes, beautiful sets, and glorious voices are your thing, you won’t want to miss a performance while visiting.

LED Boise
LED is an award-winning arts organization that combines contemporary choreography, original musical compositions, and elements of film into thought-provoking narratives and inspiring stories. It is a a cultural and creative center, a dance company, a musical project and a film studio. Visit LED’s website for up-to-date information on current projects, upcoming performances and classes.

Boise Contemporary Theater
Boise Contemporary Theater is an award-winning, professional theater company in Boise, Idaho. Since 1997, BCT has been bringing five productions a year to their main stage, attracting audiences of over 12,000 people. Along with their main stage, they also have a black box space that seats just over 200 people. This option provides an intimate art experience.

Boise Philharmonic
The Boise Philharmonic (aka Boise Phil) is a classical symphony orchestra in Boise, ID. During their performance season, October through May, Boise Phil hosts a series of spectacular concerts, often at the Morrison Center.
