Boise’s 2025 James Beard Nominees + New Eateries
Three Boise-area chefs were recently named James Beard Award semifinalists in the Best Chef (Mountain) division, including Cal Elliott of The Avery Hotel + Brasserie, Rémi Courcenet and Nathan Whitley of Terroir (all in Boise) and Salvador Alamilla of Amano in nearby Caldwell. Kris Komori of downtown Boise’s KIN won the award in 2023.
Boise also welcomes an exciting lineup of new restaurants to the city’s thriving culinary scene:

New Restaurants:
- Corsio Italian Steak – Combines a high-end cocktail program with retro feel and an elevated menu of steaks and Italian cuisine. Coming soon: A separate a hidden speakeasy accessible through a back alley.
- House of the Little Pig – In SE Boise’s Barber Valley area near the river, enjoy family-style shareable Mediterranean plates and meat from a charcoal-fired grill.
- Hemlock – Located at the Inn at 500, this high-end yet approachable steakhouse will offer a tableside baked potato bar and a lively “Brunch with Beats.” Opens Spring 2025.
- Rosa – Find from-scratch tacos at this fun, casual shop in Garden City near the Boise Greenbelt. Don’t miss the horchata soft serve!
- Belmont Brewhouse – 43 taps of craft beer, seltzers, ciders, sours and wine with pizza, smoked meats and more. All with a dog-friendly patio!
- Oldspeak – A unique bookstore and taproom concept in Garden City with a mission to “cultivate conversations and curiosity through libations and literature.”
- Bardenay – This popular local restaurant recently opened another outpost in Garden City with authentic, Northwest cuisine and a full bar featuring many house-distilled spirits.
Farmers Markets Springing Up in April
Idaho growers and artisans are busy preparing their wares for the opening days of Boise’s farmers markets. Come meet the vendors, experience a vibrant shopping atmosphere and support a sustainable food system.
Boise Farmers Market opens April 5 at 1500 Shoreline Drive and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through December. Find fresh, local seasonal vegetables and fruit, several types of locally raised protein, breads and pastries, honey, jams and sauces, fresh-roasted coffee, and a delicious selection of ready-to-eat foods.
Capital City Public Market opens for its 31st season on April 19th with a new home in downtown Boise on the corner of 11th and Myrtle. Featuring over 150 rotating vendors, all with products crafted in Idaho by Idahoans, the market is open every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. until mid-December.
