“The Basque Block is one of Idaho’s unique cultural blocks of a living ethnic neighborhood- Basque. It is comprised of two boarding houses - the Cyrus Jacobs-Uberruaga house, and the Anduiza. The block has its unique indoor frontón court, the Basque Center, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, Bar Gernika, Leku Ona restaurant, and the Basque Market. The cultural food is one of the main attractions here. There is Basque History Mural completed by Noel Weber and The Letterheads in 2000, located on the Basque Block off of Capitol Blvd. One of the original Letterhead Members, Bill Hueg, hand painted a reproduction of the work which was translated into this new digital version displayed on the west-facing wall of the 104-year-old Anduiza Fronton building. The Museum Hours are Tuesday – Friday: 10am to 5pm and Saturday: 11am to 4pm. It is closed on Sunday, Monday, and Holidays. If you are in Boise or visiting Boise and you are a history geek, I would say definitely check out this place and also try the food here to taste a different ethnic food.“

“Out of all the bars downtown to feel like you really are in a unique experience, this place is probably one of the most intriguing. The place itself has a history of basque culture along with a large gym where they hold different events. It is always a real treat when the Basque dancers are in gym while you are enjoying a cocktail at the bar. The drinks are cheap, and the building itself is a fascinating piece of architecture that is worth checking out. If you feel like you want to experience Boise's Basque culture, this is a great place to check out (along with the Museum next door).“

“Visit! You get to tour the house next door to experience the boarding houses the Basque used in Boise. And the exhibits are exquisite! I enjoyed a wonderful oral history of a woman who immigrated to Boise as a young woman. You will learn so much, and the staff are truly gifted and talented historians. 10/10 must visit!“
