“We’ve been coming here since they opened. Most visits have been good: tasty cocktails, great bartender, mostly friendly staff and good food. But my issue with this place is the management, not the staff. They don’t staff up for busy hours, resulting in really slow service. For example, waiting 10+ minutes for any service like water or acknowledgment we’re even on the patio (it’s spring, beautiful and 70F outside). And I can count 2-3 visits that featured really messed up checks (ALWAYS verify your bill before payment here). They make good on it if you’re persistent, but man, it really kills the experience. Toast POS is not that hard! My wife thinks I’m being very generous for this review, so take it for what it’s worth.“

“Incredible vibe, food, drinks, staff, and overall atmosphere. Went here for a spontaneous date night and it was so fun! Our servers, Nick and Hailey, were so attentive and kind- they deserve a raise! Thanks for such a great experience, we’ll be back!☺️“

“We used to love Barrio for the fun atmosphere and craft margaritas, but the last few visits have been disappointing. Tonight we sat for well over 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us—despite a full staff and a mostly empty restaurant. No water, no greeting, nothing. We ended up leaving and walking to The Tavern instead for their consistent great food and service. We’re genuinely bummed because we live nearby and love supporting East Boise businesses, but it feels like the service at Barrio just isn’t what it used to be.“

“2/10/24 Great afternoon at Barria! We loved it the adult only atmosphere. Our server was amazing (forgot her name but long dark hair). She truly made the experience with great recommendations and charisma. The Quesabirria Beef tacos were so delicious. I enjoyed the Barrio Margaritas with Tajin but all the drinks sound delicious.“

“UPDATE: What a bummer. I returned to The Barrio with my family, excited to treat them to a great experience. It was anything but. One of our party ordered their tacos gluten free and were told they would come on corn tortillas; perfect. When the “meal” arrived it was about half the size as another member of our party who ordered it without changes. Another member had the black bean tacos - it was simply a light scattering of what looked and tasted like part of a can of corn mixed with part of a can of beans. We reordered the street corn dip, it had previously been a generous portion, however on this night it just covered the bottom of the bowl, less than half of what we had received last time. But the worst part was the staff’s interaction with a dog that was dining with its owners. Two staff members petted the dog and one brought the dog a big bowl of water. After handling the dog, they picked up the menus off the table and put them back with the others. Who knows if either of them ever washed their hands, but that’s disgusting and I won’t be back. Really disappointed. Original review: What an excellent addition to the Bown area! We had superior service and inspired food. We tried the street corn dip, all the street tacos, and two of the avenue tacos - the Korean short rib and the pork al pastor. All were very good. We dined outdoors, it was quite pleasant and thought the interior decor was pretty cool. It would be a great place to meet friends for a cocktail and dinner. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!“
