Boise is Feeling Sporty

Bring on the Sports

The fields are green, the weather is settling down and it’s time to engage with spring sports, whether as a participant or an observer. In just a few weeks, the 2022 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships takes place June 20 – June 26 in Boise, Idaho. The event will feature Boys and Girls teams from all teenage grade levels who will compete for a regional championship and a spot at the 2022 US Youth Soccer Nationals in July. Anyone wanting to inspire their younger soccer-loving kids would be wise to bring them by to catch some of the action. For those who like their sports fast and gravity- influenced, there’s a new opportunity just for you: The Boise Bike Shuttle is now operating, with shuttles ready to drop mountain bikers off at the top of some of Boise’s best singletrack downhills. For those who have limited time or who just want to ride Boise’s trails with fresh legs, go to www.boisebikeshuttle.com to reserve a ride.

Boise’s newest air link

Avelo Airlines recently announced nonstop service from Los Angeles to Boise, but now the startup airline says it will add two additional flights per week. Alaska Airlines also announced that new route. The flights offer more opportunities to jet between Boise and Los Angeles’s most popular airport — Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), which is beloved for its smaller size and access to southern California’s iconic attractions including the famous beaches. The Avelo entry into the market adds to the options provided by Spirit Airlines, which announced recently it will launch daily nonstop flights between the Boise Airport and Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, starting on August 5, 2022. This is the first time Spirit Airlines will operate scheduled commercial service out of the Boise Airport. Go to www.iflyboise.com for more.
