Event Updates:
- Boise was awarded the U.S. Paralympic Swimming National Championships for the second consecutive year. We look forward to welcoming the top Paralympic swimmers June 11-14, 2026.
- The NCAA Division III Northwest Conference will host its Swimming Championships at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center Feb. 13-15, 2026. The event is expected to bring about 300 collegiate swimmers to Boise from Oregon and Washington.
- The 2026 USA World Jet River Race Championship is coming to Idaho May 7-17, 2026. The competition will welcome 150 international competitors from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia.
- Car lovers take note: Boise was awarded the 2027 Porsche Club of America Porsche Parade. The city last hosted this event in 2002 and it is projected to bring about 2,000 people to Boise July 10-17, 2027.
Local Team News:
AC Boise, Idaho’s first professional soccer team, will host its first home game on April 4th. They will play Spokane Velocity at the remodeled Les Bois Stadium at Expo Idaho. The team’s season opener is on March 7 against Sarasota Paradise.
Boise State’s famous Blue Turf turns 40 this year. Installed in 1986, it was the first non-green football field in the country and quickly became an iconic symbol of the university and city. To mark the milestone, Albertsons Stadium will host special events this summer including Banana Ball and the Hot Wheels Monster Truck Show. The turf will be replaced this fall ahead of BSU’s football season.

- Greater Boise Auditorium District released the results of its recent feasibility study. Findings showed the Boise/Treasure Valley community is 9% more likely than the national average to attend a live sporting event. Holding an event here means you’ll have an interested local audience.
- Visit Boise recently selected Mitchell + Palmer as its new marketing agency of record. M+P will assist with promoting sports and event tourism for the city.
- Visit Boise is working on launching a sports landing page that will be a valuable resource for event planners and attendees. Watch for more details to come.
Crane Watch:
- Opening Spring 2026, the dual-branded AC Hotel/Element by Westin project will add 296 guest rooms to downtown Boise. The hotels will share a lobby and feature rooftop dining, an outdoor roof deck, a full-service spa, fitness center, and banquet space.
- Construction is underway at the new 50-acre park at Expo Idaho. Slated to open Fall 2026, the multi-use park will include over three miles of trails along the scenic Boise River Greenbelt, a 5-acre skate park, a food truck park for local vendors with space for live music, a large playground area with two play structures, and a 64-foot zipline that both adults and children can enjoy.
