FIRST FRIDAY PREVIEW: ARTcadia

We are so excited to partner with Arcadia Hotel this December 5th to present a fairly blatant tribute to the MODERN ART event held for nine years at The Modern Hotel.  We invited artists to apply with their ideas for one-night only installations at the Arcadia Hotel on Chinden (the hotel on stilts.) Dozens applied, but we aren’t quite as big as The Modern, so we had to select a few.

Installation Artists:

• Sam Archide – Lift the veil to discover a Filipina medicine woman
• Andrew Groth & Gia Strang – These sticky hotel guests may never leave
• Susan Lasater, Veiko Valencia, and Rebecca Evans – There’s a cougar in Room 29.
• Brie Schettle – A high desert ecosystem inside a hotel?
• Becka Schrinsky – Discover your inner child… in a prom dress.
• Megan White – The web of an orb weaver spider is forming under the hotel.
• Ace Zappa (below) – A Giant Palouse Earthworm. Any questions?

Being in December (rather than May, like at the Modern) our event will have a bit of a holiday bazaar vibe with a fire pit, beverages, snacks, and booths from local artists in the courtyard below the installation rooms. Art and experience vendors will include dance, jewelry, crochet, and more.

This is just one of the exciting venues that will be open.
