Many years ago, all people were naturalists by necessity. Their survival depended on an intimate and comprehensive knowledge of the plants and animals around them. Edibility, abundance, medicinal uses, and seasonal availability were critical pieces of information. Participants of this program will have the opportunity to learn about and sample wild edible & medicinal plants in the Bogus Basin area. Topics include botany basics, ecology of plant communities, plant families, and the ethics of collecting wild foods and medicines.
