SUMMARY:PLANTS & POLLINATORS | GUIDED NATURE PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n
Within the forests and meadows of Bogus Basin are wildflowers that are fun to learn about and identify, but there is a lot more to flowers than their names and families! Flowers have evolved in close relationship to insects. Each flower is geared to a specific group or species of pollinator, from lowly beetles and flies to bees of all sorts, from beautiful butterflies to nocturnal moths, and from hummingbirds to humble winds. During the Plants & pollinators program we will take an in-depth look how different flowers are designed to fulfill different functions, with close-up views of flower shape, arrangement, and color; position of stamens and pistils; production of nectar and pollen; and presence of nectar and tongue guides. This program is only one of the many guided nature programs offered this summer.\nThis program will meet at the Frontier Point Lodge at the above-stated time and will cover 1.5 miles or less at a very casual pace. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. Water and sunscreen are highly recommended.\n\n\n\n\n
